Al-Wāḥid
The One
Root و ح د (w-ḥ-d). Lane describes the root waḥada as being alone, single, or unique. This sense appears in derivatives like waḥdahu, meaning alone or Him alone, found in Qur'an 7:70, and waḥīd, meaning alone, as seen in Qur'an 74:11. The feminine form wāḥida means one. ‘there is not any deity except Allah, the One, the Prevailing’ (38:65).
