Al-Mujīb
The Responsive, The Answerer of Prayer
Root ج و ب (j-w-b). Lane's lexicon gives the primary sense of jābahu as ‘he made a hole in it; cut it’, as in jābū, they hewed the rock (89:9). The derived form IV verb ajāba means ‘to answer’, and from this comes mujīb as Responsive or Answerer. The word jawāb means answer or reply, as seen in Qur'an 27:56. Istajāba means he responded and appears in Qur'an 3:195. Ujību, meaning I respond, is found in Qur'an 2:186. Of Allah, mujīb appears indefinite in Qur'an 11:61, and plural al-mujībūn in 37:75. ‘Indeed, my Lord is near and responsive.’ (11:61)

And to Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. He has produced you from the earth and settled you in it, so ask forgiveness of Him and then repent to Him. Indeed, my Lord is near and responsive."
