Al-Muhaymin
The Guardian, The Overseer
Root ه م ن (h-m-n). The lexicons gloss muhaymin as the witness (shāhid), the watcher (raqīb), and the one entrusted (muʾtaman). The root is disputed: the Quranic Arabic Corpus files it under h-m-n, while al-Jawharī, Ibn Sīda and Lisān al-ʿArab report the view that it comes from ʾ-m-n (muʾaymin, the hamza replaced by hā'). Few related words exist; in 5:48 the Qur'an itself is called muhaymin over earlier scripture. 59:23 names Him ‘the Overseer’.
The root

The lexicons gloss muhaymin as the witness (shāhid), the watcher (raqīb) and the one entrusted (muʾtaman). Al-Jawharī and Lisān al-ʿArab derive it from a-m-n (originally muʾaymin, the hamza changed to hā'), while filing it under h-m-n.
