Al-Muʾmin
The Granter of Security, The Faithful
Root أ م ن (ʾ-m-n). Lane gives amina as ‘he was secure, or felt safe’; related words include amāna, meaning trust, and īmān, meaning faith. The form IV verb āmana means to make safe and to believe. Amn means security and safety, while amīn means trustworthy. Classical explanations of Al-Muʾmin describe it as both the Giver of security and the One who affirms the truth of His promise and His messengers. Qur'an 59:23 names Him ‘the Bestower of Faith’.
